WORKSHOPS
(All levels)

PAIN, PATTERNS & POSSIBILITY
BY JESPER TAN & JERALD ANG
A movement method for recovery & resilience
This 4-session workshop kickstarts a supportive space for anyone navigating pain or injury, offering practical tools to move safely, rebuild trust in the body, and continue your movement journey with greater awareness.
__

What happens when the body that once moved effortlessly no longer responds the same way?

Pain, Patterns & Possibility is a collaboration between physiotherapists Faye Chan & Jerald Ang, and former dancer Jesper Tan whose career was interrupted by a spinal neoplasm. This workshop explores what it means to rebuild trust in the body after injury, pain, or neurological change by learning to listen to the body differently. This also includes understanding protective and pain patterns whilst discovering new ways to move with safety, awareness, and expression.
Through evidence based principles, awareness of the nervous system, injury informed movement, and guided reflection, you will be supported to reconnect with your body.
Pain may shape us.
Patterns may limit us.
But Possibility remains.
Welcome to a different way of moving.
Across the series, you can expect to:
-
Receive personalised feedback and practical recommendations for managing your specific pain or injury
-
Learn targeted exercises designed to address common and individual pain patterns, with options for adaptation and progression
-
Build awareness of movement habits through guided exploration and reflection
-
Experience a more holistic rehabilitation approach that integrates clinical insight with expressive, functional movement

TERM-BASED CLASSES
(Intro - Beginner Level)

This class is ideal for those who are relatively new to dance (ie: has completed our contemporary dance introductory course, or has little/some dance background in various genres) and wish to learn and practise some basics of contemporary dance, be it for self-improvement or attain a little foundation in dance!
Each week, you'll explore a new routine that’s beginner-friendly — engaging, accessible, and thoughtfully paced to suit newer dancers or dancers who wish to continue dancing after stopping
We begin with a full warm-up—stretching, conditioning, and strength work — to prepare your body. Then, flow into dynamic phrase work that encourages expression, connection, and movement through space.
A weekly practice to build confidence, body awareness, and joy in movement.

Upcoming Term:
Day/Time: Monday, 8:30pm – 10:00pm
Upcoming Term Dates: Mar 16, 23, 30, Apr 6, 13, 20, 27, May 4 '2026

MONDAY
8:30PM – 10:00PM
TUESDAY
7:15PM – 8:30PM
This class welcomes new dancers with some ballet background, used to do ballet but stopped, as well as movers from other practices who are curious to discover how ballet can expand their body’s possibilities.
Drawing on somatic approaches, imagery, and external sensations, you’ll explore ballet through letting awareness, understanding of body mechanics, and sensation shape the form. The focus is on how ballet can heighten body and movement awareness, while also building the strength, coordination, and clarity that support all movements.
Each session develops alignment, flexibility, range, and confidence, alongside learning ballet vocabulary. More than technique, it is a practice of awareness and discipline that opens space for freedom and joy in movement.
Upcoming Term:
Day/Time: Tuesday, 7:15pm – 8:30pm
Dates: Mar 24, 31, Apr 7, 14, 21, 28, May 5, 12 '2026
If you missed the start of the course, email sigmacospace@gmail.com or whatsapp +65 9236 3464 for enquiry.
SUNDAY
3:30PM – 5:00PM
This workshop is about uncovering movement that is already within you, rather than adding something new. We will work with simple explorations that let the body guide itself.
Instead of focusing on form or appearance, we pay attention to sensation: the ground beneath you, the breath moving through you, the quiet shifts that connect inside and out. From this awareness, movement becomes clearer, lighter, and more connected.
The aim is not performance, but renewal. It is a return to a natural way of moving that supports balance, presence, and vitality in daily life.
This class is open to all movers of all levels. No prior dance background is required.
Upcoming Term:
Day/Time: Sunday, 3:30PM – 5:00pm
Dates: Mar 15, 22, 29, Apr 5, 12, 26, May 10 '2026

Not forgetting finding and enjoying the dance and its rigour within your body.
