This year's 12.ance Intensive is led by independent artist, Christina Chan who is currently both performing internationally and creating works for Sigma Contemporary Dance as their resident choreographer. In this 6-day intensive, you will be working closely with Christina as you get a chance to learn her unique movement vocabulary and experience being part of her creative process.

This programme is best suited for pre-professional dancers, dance enthusiasts looking to deepen your practice, and dance educators looking to refine your approach to dance and creation.

This intensive will culminate in a showcase performed to a live audience in the studio. This year, there will be elements of technology and projection.

Content

Movement Training

Intensive training in Christina Chan’s unique movement vocabulary -- characterised by fluid, dynamic and visceral movements.
Learn set choreography phrases.

Engage in workshops to refine your skills and hone your movement creativity.

Creative Process

Exploration of choreographic techniques and creative processes as you make artistic choices in your own explorations and movement creation through with direction and guidance from from Christina.

Gain tools to improvise and create with other bodies in space.

Studio Showcase

Performance of materials explored and created over the intensive.

Opportunity to showcase your skills and artistic expression to a live audience.

Criteria

This intensive is open to anyone of all ages, with a good foundation in and a curiosity about dance and creation.
This intensive is audition-based. An audition video is required (refer to "To Apply" section for instructions).
You have to be in Singapore throughout the duration of the intensive.
Full attendance of the Intensive will be required. Exceptions may be granted on a case-by-case basis. Please indicate in the "Remarks" session of the application form or email us to enquire.

A link to a 2 to 5 min video of yourself dancing and improvising (video should be a continuous take that is unedited with your full body in view at all times)
A dance CV

Please submit all completed entries by 5 Nov 2023.

Results will be announced by 8 Nov 2023, payment to be made by 10 Nov 2023.
